Betty M. Hellein

Betty Marjorie (Morris) Hellein, 88, formerly of Beaver Falls and Latrobe joined her husband Walter in Heaven on April 3, 2012. She was born on August 9, 1923 in Pleasant Unity, the daughter of the late Harry and Maude (Hall) Morris. Prior to moving to Latrobe from Beaver Falls, she operated her own Beauty Shop for over 25 years. She was an active member for many years of the Central Methodist Church in Beaver Falls where she was past President of the United Methodist Women; past Worthy Matron ? Colonel Joseph H. Thompson Memorial Chapter 469 Order of Eastern Star; past President of Social Order of Beauceant 173 Masonic Order; and past President of Ladies Auxiliary of Beaver Valley Commandery. After moving to Latrobe, she became a member of the Bethany United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Degree of Honor Lodge #61 where she served as President and Secretary; then State Secretary of State Officers of Degree of Honor Lodge 61; and State Usher of Degree of Honor Lodge 61. She was also a volunteer at Latrobe Hospital prior to her illness. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter R. Hellein on July 5, 2004, son-in-law, Russell Gricks on August 20, 2008, six brothers, Leroy, James, Thomas, Charles, Harry Jr. and Melvin Morris and two sisters: Alice Clair and Genevieve Morris. Betty is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Patricia J. Gricks of Belle Vernon and Joyce L. and James McCusker of Myrtle Beach, SC; six granddaughters, Lori Coffer and her husband John, of Star Junction, Kathi Gricks of Crofton, MD; Teri Hoover and her husband William of Reidsville, NC; Jodi McCusker and her fiancée Rick Weller of Oley, PA, Judi Cuevas and her husband Felix of Pottstown, PA, and Jennifer McCusker and her fiancée Sean Kearny of Myrtle Beach, SC; eight great-grandchildren, Jason Coffer, Jessica Hoover, Heather Clark, Michael Smale, Nichlas Smale, Brianna Ondik, Jason Penrose and Daniel Cuevas; four great great-grandchildren, a brother, Albert Morris and wife Marion of Latrobe, a sister-in-law, Martha Morris of Beaver Falls and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Scott Berkley officiating. Entombment will be in the mausoleum of Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Rochester. The family would like to recognize and extend a special thank you to Dr. Helen Monsour and the entire staff on A-3 at Westmoreland Manor for the excellent care and loving support provided to Betty during her time there. We also wish to thank Excela Hospice for the special care these past weeks. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be given to Alzheimer's or Breast Cancer Foundations.
