Barton Rueben Walker

Barton Rueben Walker, 69, of Rostraver Twp., passed away Friday, September 14, 2018 in his home surrounded by his family. A son of the late George and Evelyn Hatton Walker, he was born in North Charleroi on January 2, 1949. He has been a resident of Rostraver for the past 16 years, a member of the Charleroi American Legion, a member of the Mormon Church in Monongahela, and retired from the Monessen coke plant in 2014. He served in the Marines as a Sergeant of the 3rd Battalion, serving in Vietnam from 1967 – 1970 and was a recipient of a purple heart. In the service, he was known as “Teddy Bear”. A wonderful father and grandfather, he is survived by two sons, Barton Walker of California, PA and Clinton Smeltzer of Belle Vernon, four daughters; Shirley Walker of Charleroi, Destiny Bentley of Rostraver Twp., Edwina Emricko of Donora, and Alicia Cramer of Rostraver Twp., four brothers; David Walker of Rostraver Twp., Vernon Walker of Brockway, PA, and Joseph and William Walker, both of Donora, one sister, Patricia Earley of Donora, fifteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and his dog Gizmo. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jody Lynn Walker on September 21, 2011, a brother, George Walker, and a sister, Evelyn Harris. A private memorial service will be held at the request of his family.
