Erik A. Slavik, 52, of Dunlevy, formerly of Belle Vernon, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017 at Mon Valley Hospital. A son of the late Thomas Slavik and Stephanie Petelicka Slavik who survives and resides in Dunlevy, he was born in Washington, PA on April 22, 1965. Erik had been employed by Westinghouse in the shipping and receiving department. A U.S. Navy veteran, Erik served his country during Desert Storm aboard the USS Midway. In addition to his mother, survivors include his fiance, Shirl Meddis, of McKeesport, two sisters and a brother-in-law; JoAnn Wilson, of Monessen, and Aileen “Kiki” and Michael Kremer, of Gulfport, FL, and two brothers; Michael Slavik, of Belle Vernon, and Thomas Slavik, Jr., of Donora. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by a sister, Cindy Zimmerman in 2013. Friends will be received on Thursday from 7-8:30 P.M. with a blessing to be held at 8:30 P.M. with Rev. Francisco R. Gan Jr., Pastor of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church officiating. Interment will be in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
