    Roger L. Grandy

    February 23, 1925 - September 2, 2014

    Roger L. Grandy, 89, of Speers, passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2014 in the Hallsworth House, Monessen. A son of the late George and Josephine Barbouse Grandy, he was born in Dunlevy on February 23, 1925. He was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church of Charleroi, the Charleroi American Legion, Post 22, where he had served as commander and secretary, the Charleroi Lions Club and the Charleroi Elks. Roger was a devoted member and past president of both the state and national ARC. He was also a board member of the Washington County MHMR board. He tirelessly committed himself to improving the quality of life of those with disabilities. He served on the council of Speers Boro for over 30 years and as the council president until his recent illness. He had been the owner and operator of the former B & G Distributing in Dunlevy and was a manager of government contracts for Westinghouse Electric, retiring in 1992. An avid golfer, Roger enjoyed traveling and many winters in Ft. Myers, FL. He also served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War 2. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Fay Pezzoni Grandy, one son, Chris Grandy, at home, three daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and David Berquist of Monroeville, Betsy and Ed Herbert of Grand Prairie, TX and Kathy and Bill Mocilan of Peters Twp., two grandchildren, Derek Mocilan of Pittsburgh and his fiance, Emily Buhman and Michael Mocilan of Peters Twp. and one cousin, George Grandy of Greensburg. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Thursday in the Ferguson Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 700 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon. 724-929-5300 www.FergusonFuneralHomeAndCrematory.com Funeral services will be in the funeral home at 10 A.M. Friday with Pastor Allen Riethmiller officiating. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to ARC Mon Valley, P.O. Box 694, Belle Vernon, PA 15012.
