Scharma Sphar Schaeffer

Scharma J. Sphar Schaeffer, 83, of Charleroi, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 in the Donnell House, Washington. A daughter of the late George H. and Christina Cowell Soles, she was born in Speers on March 16, 1931. Formerly of Speers, she had resided in Charleroi since 2014. A member of the Speers United Methodist Church, she had previously been employed by Drs. Waite and Paluso and the Mon Valley Health Center, retiring in 1993. Survivors include one daughter, Susan Sphar-Calhoun of Belle Vernon; two sons and daughters-in-law, Paul L. and Sandy Sphar of Portland, OR and Douglas L. and Melanie Sphar of Wilmington, NC; one son-in-law Ed Calhoun; three step children, Shirley Slunski, Martha Durinski and Ricky Schaeffer; three grandchildren, Shannah Lineburger, Brittany Sphar and Danielle Sphar; six step grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Rev. Carl E. Sphar, her second husband, Robert G. Schaeffer and a step son, Robert Schaeffer. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M.
