William Robert Jones, 70, of Van Meter, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2015. A son of the late Robert and Margaret Evans Jones, he was born in N. Charleroi on July 28, 1944. William was a lifelong resident of the Mon Valley, living in West Newton prior to Smithton. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War and later held the position of clerk for the Pittsburgh and Lake Erie Railroad. Bill was a member of the Bethlehem Temple in Duquesne, and. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Cora Sue Poland Jones; a son, Robert Jones, Sr. of Mt. Pleasant; a daughter, Margaret Jones of Rostraver Twp.; a step-daughter, Paulette Poland of Dunlevy; a brother, Allen Jones of IN; two sisters, Shelby Jones of Smithton and Cheryl Sofran of Smithton and four grandchildren, Robert Jones, Jr., Raven Jones, Ashley Rutherford and Brandon Poland. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Tom Jones. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M.
