John A. Boyles

John A. Boyles, 84, of Stockdale, passed away on Friday, December 29, 2023 in Mon Valley Hospital. A son of the late Ford and Ruth Gross Boyles, he was born in Buckhannon, WV on April 25, 1939. John was a life member of The Loyal Order of the Moose, Sutersville Lodge 1358. His love and dedication for the Moose reflected in his career accomplishments which include, State President, numerous state Chairmanships, District President and Lodge Governor. John’s proudest moment with the Moose was in 2000 when he achieved the Pilgrim Degree of Merit which is the highest honor bestowed on any Moose member. His devotion to the Moose inspired many, he was a tremendous mentor and role model. John was also a member of several area social clubs. A resident of Stockdale for the past 20 years, he was formerly of Belle Vernon. He retired after 30 years from the former Supervalu in Belle Vernon. In recent years, he enjoyed riding his side by side with his son, family and friends, enjoying ‘God’s Country’. Survivors include a son, Andrew D. Boyles of Huber Heights, OH, a daughter, Tara Boyles-Michalski of Michigan, three brothers, Kenneth (Andrea) Boyles, James (Linda) Boyles, all of Buckhannon, WV, and Ronald (Epi) Boyles of Cabawba, NC, two sisters, Anne Snyder on Newnan, GA and Nancy (Rod) Merrifield of Fairmont, WV, and two grandchildren, Caitlyn Gaskill of Ohio and John Boyles, Senior Airman / Firefighter, United States Air Force. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Iris Boyles on December 27, 2017, a daughter, Dawnette Boyles and two brothers, Frank and Stanley Boyles. Friends will be received in the Ferguson Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 700 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon on Tuesday from 6 to 8:30 P.M. A Moose Pilgrim Tribute Service will begin at 8:15 P.M. Tuesday followed by John’s funeral service at 8:30 P.M. with Pastor Sandy Fitzgibbons officiating.
